Vincent Van Gogh

In may 1875, Vincent was assigned to Goupil's headquarters in Paris. There he lives in a small room in Montmarte that he decorates with art prints by the Hague School and Barbizon artists. He gradually lost interest in the art business. His superiors became unsatisfied with his work, and in March 1876, Vincent is dismissed from Goupil's. At the same time, his interest in religion took excessive forms. Vincent spent all his evenings in Montmartre, reading aloud from the bible to his friend and roommate Harry Gladwell. In April 1876, Vincent returns to England, where he found a position at a boarding school in Ramsgate. The fact that he didn't only teach English but also French, German, orthography and mathematics, shows that he was a very erudite man. Three months later he is offered a position in Isleworth, near London, not only as a teacher but also as an assistant preacher.
